At least two martyred cops in Peshawar Suicide Blast

Peshawar: at least two cops, including a sub-inspector (SI), were martyred in an explosion of suicide in the Peshawar Chamkani region, police officials announced on Sunday.

The officials said the explosion had been carried out near a mobile police van near Mandi from Ring Road, leaving two martyr cops and three other injured.

Superior Superintendent Police Operations (SSP) confirmed that it was a suicide attack that targeted the police vehicle.

The country experienced a sharp increase in terrorist attacks in January 2025, increasing by 42% compared to the previous month, according to data published by Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), a reflection group.

The data revealed that at least 74 militant attacks were registered nationally, resulting in 91 deaths, including 35 members of security staff, 20 civilians and 36 activists. 117 other people were injured, including 53 members of the security forces, 54 civilians and 10 activists.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) remained the most affected province, followed by Balutchistan. In KP’s established districts, activists led 27 attacks, leading to 19 deaths, including 11 security staff, six civilians and two activists.

The tribal districts of KP (old Fata) witnessed 19 attacks, resulting in 46 deaths, including 13 members of the security staff, eight civilians and 25 activists.
