Athlete of track, 16, mortally stabbed during the meeting of the championship

A 16 -year -old athlete was killed during a championship meeting on Wednesday morning in Texas by a member of another team, officials said.

Frisco police confirmed that the student-athlete had died “despite rescue measures”. The suspect, Karmelo Anthony, 17, was accused of first degree murder.

A FRISCO Memorial student was the victim, according to local reports. FRISCO’s commemorative director, Brook Fesco, wrote in an e-mail obtained by PK Press Club Digital that Austin Metcalf, school junior, died on Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m. at the Kuykendall stadium at the 11-5-5A district championship competition from the University’s Interscholasic League. Anthony attends Frisco Centennial, about 7 miles from Frisco Memorial.

According to the independent school district of Frisco, the competition was suspended shortly after the incident. The ISD added that the stadium “was immediately secured and that the students were released and returned to their original campus on FISD buses in opportunity”.

In his email, Fesco said that the school “will recognize the death of Austin during the 2nd period and will offer support throughout the day”, the addition of advisers would be available.

“As a parent, your advice and your support will be important to help your child treat sorrow. Talking together, face to face, will give you a chance to discuss how your family understands and faces the loss. You can also chat with your child how to be a friend of support for classmates,” Fesco wrote. “This loss could also remind your student the past losses. The most important thing you can make is to provide your child a chance to be heard and express his feelings.”

“The Frisco police service mourns all the people affected by this devastating loss and exercises its greatest condolences to the family, students and the staff of the victim who experience unimaginable pain,” the department said in a statement. “The department is collaborating with the Frisco Independent School District and will continue to provide any support they need during this incredibly difficult period.”

Metcalf, who also played football at school, participated both in throwing the weight of boys and disc events earlier during the day, with distances launched by 39 feet, 9¾ inches and 86 feet, 4 inches, respectively.

Anthony directed the dashboard of the 100 meters of the boys in 12.38 seconds and was to participate in the long jump.
