Aztec’s confidentiality rollup strikes the testnet in the middle of growing demand

Aztec, a layer-2 roller focused on confidentiality, shared Thursday that his testnet was finally posted.

The announcement arises as a wave of new solutions focused on privacy is starting to seize the interests of large institutions that need confidentiality with major transactions.

The team behind Aztec said it has been working on the product for over 8 years, bringing the cutting -edge technology closer to the Pointe du Mainnet technology.

Aztec differs from other zero knowledge rolls because it focuses on applications and users preserve their private details by incorporating encryption in the protocol.

“All the secret information you want to keep encrypted, it is published on our blockchain in a quantified form,” said Zac Williamson, co-founder of the Aztec network, in Coindesk.

The layer 2 networks have appeared en masse in Ethereum space in recent years, and are considered a faster and cheaper alternative to the transaction of the Ethereum protocol. But Aztec will have to abandon the elements of this in order to preserve its mission to preserve privacy and decentralize.

“A fully private transaction will have more data associated with it, because everything is encrypted. This means that you need more resources, so you cannot evolve,” said Williamson. “And so we agree with that. Aztec’s unique value proposition is not scaling. We do a little [because] We are a layer 2, but we never need to be as cheap as the other layers 2. ”

Institutions are looking for a long time the tools preserving confidentiality, as they are essential for the management of sensitive transaction data for public registers. Aztec raised $ 100 million in a B series in 2022, led by A16Z, when the conversations around the confidentiality of the blockchain began to take off.

Recently, the tools preserving confidentiality are re -moved as an industry key while large institutions are starting to be in a chain. On Tuesday, the Miden confidentiality solution said that it had raised $ 25 million in finishing the seeds of A16Z.
