Babusar Top becomes white in May

Balakot:

Intermittent snowfalls continue at Babusar Top, a popular tourist destination in the Kaghan valley, while tourist crowds are flock to experience a winter situation in May.

Tourists who escape heat in other regions rejoice in the cold and celebrate in the snow. Until now, more than five inches of snow have been recorded at Babusar Top.

Due to snowfall, the authorities have temporarily suspended traffic on the Babusar Top Highway for security reasons. However, the road has since been reopened after improving weather conditions.

Other upper areas of the Kaghan valley – such as Jalkhad, Besal and the Lulusar mountains – have also received snowfall, bringing winter colds to the region.

The valley now looks like January more than June, and tourists fully appreciate the cold and refreshing time.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the current rain and snow fate can continue for the next 12 hours, potentially causing new temperature drops.

In Balakot, Saturday saw a mixture of clouds and sun, while precipitation and snowfall in the surrounding highlands added to the beauty and charm of the city.

With the current climate change, the traditional sequence of four distinct seasons in the Kaghan valley gradually fades.
