- Apple’s M5 MacBook Pro could have been delayed until 2026
- No reason has been given for apparent postponement
- This means that Apple could launch two MacBook Pro models next year
In recent years, Apple has launched a new MacBook Pro in the fall like Clockwork – but this year it could change everything. Indeed, a new report said that the M5 MacBook Pro could be postponed in early 2026, with Apple “targeting internally” this date instead of the regular end of year release window.
The surprising news comes from the Bloomberg journalist, Mark Gurman, who was a reliable source of leaks and apple rumors in the past. Gurman’s latest report contradicts his previous relationships, who suggest that the M5 MacBook Pro would be revealed near the end of 2025.
Gurman did not provide the reason for the delay, so the cause of Apple’s decision is the assumption of anyone. That said, the journalist noted that the timing is “fluid”, which suggests that there is a chance that the next MacBook Pro can make its appearance before the end of this 2025.
However, the launch of a MacBook Pro at the beginning of the year is not unprecedented, because the M2 MacBook Pro, for example, was released in January 2023. However, this model was the exception in the Apple Silicon era, with the M1, M3 and M4 MacBook Pro editions that comes out in the fall.
Delays
What could cause this delay? Gurman did not offer any clue here, and it is not immediately clear what Apple’s reflection process could be.
The M5 MacBook Pro is probably a minor update, New Apple’s M5 chip is the main differentiating between it and the M4 MacBook Pro. This means that problems with the chip could be one of the main reasons for delay. Alternatively, Apple could simply maintain the device until 2026 for reasons of sale.
Next year could be a big one for the MacBook Pro, with a redesigned model which should arrive at the end of 2026. This version should be delivered with a new design and an OLED display, marking the largest update of the MacBook Pro since the last overhaul in 2021.
But with the M5 MacBook Pro which potentially slip in 2026, we will have to see if the MacBook Pro OLED is also accordingly in long herbs.
