Miranshah:

The tribal district of northern Waziristan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, again appeared as a focal point of safety concerns following a targeted explosion in a bank building in the heart of Mir Ali Bazaar.

In the early hours of Friday morning, unidentified attackers used explosives to destroy a branch of a commercial bank which had been inactive for several months due to threats in force.

According to police sources, the branch had already been closed and its staff moved to Bannu in the middle of security fears.
The building, however, remained vulnerable and, in the days preceding the attack, unidentified individuals would have looted furniture from the premises – pointing to a premeditated act.

No victim has been reported in the explosion. The authorities launched an investigation and collected medico-legal evidence of the site.
While officials suspect the involvement of extremist elements, they point out that the final conclusions can only be drawn after the end of the investigation.

In related development, security agencies parked in the Razmak subdivision have reported potential threats and requested restrictions on their operational camp.

In response, the District Administration issued a notification prohibiting all forms of civil activity – residence, movement and construction – within a radius of kilometer from the camp.

The order clearly stipulates that any violation will grant the burden of responsibility for the damage caused by the offender.

Recent incidents have aroused anxiety among local residents and traders, who call for urgent and effective measures to restore peace.
