The Reds of Cincinnati paid tribute to Pete Rose on Wednesday evening – a day after Major League Baseball removed the leader of all time and others from the permanently ineligible list.
Reds fans have thrilled the city en route to a large American stadium to watch the team celebrate one of the best players in the history of the franchise because it will have the chance to have a plaque in Cooperstown, New York, in Baseball Hall of Fame.

Songs of “Pete! Pete!” were heard in the park. The stadium organized a pre-match moment and a Choir of the Rose Lycée in Cincinnati interpreted the national anthem. The fans wore rose jerseys and the protruding facts were shown on the video board throughout the game.
“It was great,” said Pete Rose Jr. about the ceremony, via MLB.com. “It’s at home. They are all friends and family. I led 15 minutes from the house to go to the stadium. I’m going to lead 15 minutes back. I try to explain to people, they don’t really get the daddy’s appearance here. I try to tell them that he is our baby Ruth. If you’re from here, it’s our baby Ruth.”
He added that the family could not have asked for “a better night”.

Rose was placed on the ineligible list after the revelation he played on the Reds to win – both as a player and manager. After years to demand innocence, Rose admitted to having played in 2004. He also faced charges of sexual misconduct in the years that followed his retirement from the game.

He deplored in his last interview that he did not enter the temple of fame after his death. It is a prophecy that got closer to reality on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, however, it was celebrated.

“My father told me all the stories of the difficulty he played every time,” said the Lift of the Brent Rens Sueter. “You know, has never taken play, he was still going hard 90 (feet), sliding his head first, you know, get dirty every match. … He was a guy who embodied tenacity, the grain.”
Reds manager Terry Francona also spoke of Rose. He was a Rose’s teammate with Cincinnati and the Montreal exhibitions.
“He played baseball with as much passion and competitive pleasure as ever,” he said. “You wanted to be part of his team.”
Now, the debate begins to know if Rose should be in the fame of fame and it was fair to keep it outside as long as baseball.

“I know that I simplify things. But what Pete did as a player, if he is not there, there is no renown temple,” said Francona. “But I understand. There are things that … I’m happy not to have (these) decisions.”
