Michael Keaton recalled his decades-long friendship with the late Catherine O’Hara.
THE Batman the actor collaborated with Catherine in a 1988 horror and fantasy film, Beetle juicedirected by Tim Burton.
Keaton was deeply affected when he learned of the sudden death of the Alone at home actress.
A week after her death, the 74-year-old appeared at Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals 2026 Man of the Year event in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he spoke about Catherine and her path to fame after starring in a comedy series, Second City Television (SCTV).
At the event, Michael admitted, “I was a huge fan of SCTV. I’m the biggest fan of SCTV. And I’m trying to ask myself, when was that? I think I was making a movie in Toronto.”
“I remember we must have met or gotten to know each other a little bit, because, like me, she has a big family.”
He revealed that like him, O’Hara also had seven siblings and they became friends in one way or another.
While sharing some memorable moments he spent with the 71-year-old actress, Michael added, “I remember one night in Toronto where she spent a summer [with her] brothers and sisters, and we were all playing pool in a bar somewhere”
The bird man The actor had trouble remembering how long he had known her, but one thing was certain: the two had a healthy friendship for decades.
Keaton, after hearing about the tragic loss, took to his Instagram to pay tribute to his longtime friend.
He wrote, “We’re going back to before the first Beetlejuice. She was my fake wife, my so-called enemy and my real life, real friend. This one hurts. Man, I’m going to miss her. Thinking of Beau too.”
