The American Department of Agriculture announced Wednesday that the University of Maine (UMS) system had agreed to comply with President Donald Trump’s executive decree to keep the transgender athletes outside female sports.
UMS, a network of eight public universities in Maine, was subject to a temporary break of the USDA financing last week during an in progress battle between the State and the federal government on trans inclusion in female and girls sports. Funding was restored a few days later.
The USDA now says that the UMS is in full compliance with Trump’s decree.

“After the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) launched an examination of the compliance of the title IX concerning federal funding, the Maine University system (Umaine) clearly communicated its compliance with the requirement of title IX to protect equal opportunities for women and girls to compete in safe and fair sports, as President Donald JJ Trump said.”
“Any false complaint from the Umaine can, and will lead to, will lead to an expensive financial responsibility and even potentially criminal.”

The Chancellor of the UMS Dannel Malloy provided a statement to PK Press Club Digital, saying that the system is “relieved” to have understood the USDA.
“The system of the University of Maine has always maintained its compliance with state and federal laws and the NCAA rules, which the American department of agriculture has also affirmed in a press release today,” said Chancellor Maloy.
“We are relieved to put the examination of compliance with title IX of the Department behind us so that the University of Maine of Maine and our State partners can continue to take advantage of the USDA and other essential federal funds to strengthen and develop our economy of natural resources and dependent rural communities thanks to the education, research and extension of the world class.”
