- THE Battlefield 6 the audio team discussed the development of the game’s live service in a new interview
- The developers said they were “constantly tweaking” its sound
Battlefield 6 may have launched late last year, but that doesn’t mean the developers at Battlefield Studios have stopped working, rolling out a slew of live service updates and even more on the way.
In a new interview with TechRadar Gaming, the game’s audio team revealed some of the work they do behind the scenes.
“The work never stops,” said sound designer Goncalo Tavares.

“There is, of course, the feeling that the game has been launched, with all the hype and all that, but the work continues,” added senior audio director David Jegutidse. “It’s not like it doesn’t stop. Sure, we’ve taken vacations and stuff, but it continues.”
“We’re not just adding new things,” he said. “We’re constantly tweaking what we think needs tweaking. […] It’s almost like we haven’t shipped yet. In some cases, I kind of like that, about the live service. Once the game is in players’ hands, the soundscape changes. It’s not a different game, but it is. Players play very differently from developers. »
“It used to be when we were starting out in the industry, it was like you had the sprint to finish,” began senior audio director Mari Saastamoinen Minto, “and then that was it.”
On the other hand, she explains that “today, I see it more as a marathon”.
Last year, the team’s massive commitment was rewarded with Battlefield 6 winning Best Audio Design at The Game Awards 2025.
“It was a huge team effort, and the team worked really hard, and we also welcomed a lot of new members. It was great,” recalls Saastamoinen Minto. “For some it was their first game and there was a lot of enthusiasm.”
“I got up at 3 a.m. to watch the awards ceremony,” Tavares recalls. “I had no hope. I was just enjoying the show, and when it was revealed, I was like, ‘What?’ My wife was sleeping and I felt like I was whispering to her.”
If you want to hear the award-winning sounds the team has produced for yourself, Battlefield 6 is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC.
