The Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to accelerate the construction of an even closer Pakistani community with a common future in the new era “, after the official visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in China from August 30 to September 4.
During the invitation of President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Shehbaz attended the 25th meeting of the Council of Heads of State for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War against Japanese aggression and anti-Fascist World War.
During the visit, he held meetings with President XI and Prime Minister Li Qiang, where the two parties led in -depth discussions on bilateral links and regional and international issues.
The visit ended with the publication of the action plan to promote an even closer Pakistani community with a shared future in the new era (2025-2029).
Ambassador Jiang said the plan “devotes himself to the construction of a Chinese-Pakistani community with a common future with even stronger political confidence, closer economic and commercial ties, cooperation in more in-depth security and a more solid popular base”.
He noted that the plan would serve as a “general directive, the roadmap and the construction plan to advance strategic cooperation all times between our two countries currently and in the time to come”.
Ambassador Jiang stressed that high -level confidence remained the cornerstone of links. Quoting President XI, he said: “China and Pakistan share a resilient link, a fraternal link and also a link based on trust and common values - a friendship to forge everything by historical twists and turns and have become even stronger over time.”
He added that the PM Shehbaz stressed that “Pakistani-Chinese friendship took root in the hearts of the more than 200 million Pakistani, and that no force can shake this unbreakable link”.
In the past year, frequent high -level visits, including those of Prime Minister Shehbaz in June, former Prime Minister Li Qiang in October and President Zardari in February, “allowed our two parties to reach important common understanding on the progress of strategic cooperation all times,” said ambassador Jiang.
He also underlined economic cooperation as a priority. Citing President XI, he said: “China supports Pakistan in maintaining unity, focusing on development and improving national force. China is ready to work with Pakistan to build the Chine-Pakistan 2.0 economic corridor and improve the Chinese-Pakistani free trade agreement”.
He cited major milestones this year, including the launch of the New Gwadar International Airport, the exploitation of the Golden Seawater Desalination plant in China, production in the Special Economic Zone in Rashakai and the launch of the PRS-1 of Pakistan from China.
Pakistani exports such as beef, fruits and fruits have also gained ground on the Chinese markets, he noted.
