Ben Affleck gives insight into one of his hit films, Armageddon.
THE Batman The star, 53, said in a recent interview that while filming the film he was seriously ill and suffered from food poisoning.
It was the same day he was scheduled to shoot one of the film’s most emotional scenes, where Harry S. Stamper (Bruce Willis) traded places with Affleck’s AJ Frost on the asteroid.
“When we were filming that scene, I got food poisoning. I wasn’t an experienced enough actor at that point to know that you just have to pick up the phone and say, ‘I’m too sick to work today.’ I’m like, ‘I better come in.’ So I went in there and I literally – this is the only time this has ever happened to me in my life – vomited between takes,” he recalls.
“They had a trash can and I was [vomiting between takes]. And that probably made the scene better,” he laughed.
The actor recalled that the film had an impact on him and his career and gave him the opportunity to work closely with many talented actors.
“I actually saw Steve Buschemi last night at the premiere of The Rip, and we were reminiscing about that movie and thinking about how it was the most weird, wonderful, eerie, supernatural cinematic experience that none of us had any experience with anything like that,” he shared.
