Ben Shelton is expected to return to the hard short of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center for a third round action at the US Open 2025.
Shelton beat Pablo Carreño Busta in two sets in a second -round male match on Wednesday. After the victory, Shelton answered questions from media members. But the 22 -year -old American tennis star ended up hearing a question of an unexpected visitor to the press conference room.
The star of the national women’s football team, Trinity Rodman, who publicly recognized his romance with Shelton earlier this year, applauded the tennis player in the sixth row of the stands in the second round match.

Rodman joked the unusual speeds of Shelton services during Wednesday competition.

A visibly surprised Shelton responded by asking an unknown person, who was not seen in a video published on the social media account of the United States, “why did you ask him a question?”

“I just know that you like to serve big, and it was not breaking 140 today,” continued Rodman.
Shelton then offered an explanation.
“Yeah, it’s cold outside,” he replied. “So, I think that was the main reason. I was focused on the striking points and I did not hit these places, so I may have to serve bigger – but something that I will certainly work next time.”

In addition to playing for the USWNT, Rodman participates in the club level for the spirit of Washington in the NWSL. She is the daughter of the five -time NBA champion, Dennis Rodman.
On Sunday, Shelton recognized the effort Rodman made to support him in US Open this year. “My girlfriend took the red eyes of California last night to be here,” said Shelton.
Shelton will meet Adrian Mannarino in the third round Thursday.
