An imposing mosque of the palace of Cum in Damascus chaired by Yazid Ibn Muawiya and his many loyalists, presented the unlikely frame for his powerful Empire to start soon to collapse, after having faced the survivors of the Battle of Karbala more than 1400 years ago.
But many historical accounts remember this very framework very well, where the tide began to turn against Yazid Ibn Muawiya after the eloquent sermon of Bibi Zainab (AS), the younger sister of Imam Hussain (AS) in short, this singular event made a powerful colony of the Yazid Empire.
The courage and wisdom of Bibi Zainab to date remain impressive, having survived the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and his supporters in Karbala. Karbala martyrs included two of Bibi Zainab’s sons, although his determination to ignore his personal loss reinforced in captivity.
While his words began to spread through the Empire of Yazid Ibn Muawiya, the popular mood began to turn against him. Yazid Ibn Muawiya died only three years after the Karbala massacre, giving way to a counter coupling led by Amir Mukhtar Al Thaqafi, who targeted the killers of Imam Hussain (AS) and his supporters.
Over time, the popular trend emerged in contrast to the momentary victory of Yazid Ibn Muawiya after the massacre in Karbala. The army of Yazid Ibn Muawiya, according to some historical stories, counted by the thousands against the martyr loyalists of the Imam Hussain (AS), not counting more than 72. They included a younger child of Imam Hussain (AS).
To further break the determination of Bibi Zainab (AS) and other Karbala survivors, they continued to wait three days in “Souq e Hamidiya” – a bazaar near the Ummaya mosque – as preparations were made to celebrate the arrival of Karbala prisoners.
Public announcements were made to present the prisoners as members of the family of dissidents, killed in an uprising against the Yazid Ibn Muawiya regime. To add more to the misery of the captives, the cut heads of the Karbala martyrs led by Imam Hussain (AS) were brought to spearheads of the battlefield and kept the vision of the prisoners.
But even in such adversity, Bibi Zainab courageously led women and children with an adult man – Imam Zainul Abideen (AS), the only son of Imam Hussain (AS), to survive the carnage of Karbala, because he was too fragile to fight.
Centuries have passed since this test targeting the descendants of the Prophet Muhammad (PSL) rocked the very foundations of Islam. The prophet’s household test (PSL) varied from the Karbala massacre to their imprisonment and moves in inhuman conditions.
However, the Zainab bibi sermon continues to resonate with a powerful effect. Throughout history, his words have repeatedly influenced the accounts in historical texts, works from history to poetry. In contrast, the Yazid Empire collapsed and finally disappeared. He remembers today universally with contempt.
While Muslims around the world remembered “Arbaeen” this week, a day commemorated today in Pakistan (Friday), marking the 40th day after the massacre of Imam Hussain (AS) and his disciples, the opportunity again underlined the courage of Bibi Zainab (AS).
As Hazrat Ali (AS) and Bibi Sayyida Fatima (AS) – The daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (PSL) – Eloquence and courage were naturally inherited by her. And yet, the confrontation with Yazid Ibn Muawiya in the middle of the fear of being instantly killed, presents a unique example of courage that has repeatedly inspired Muslims in the world. Today, this example is particularly useful for Muslims to be literally massacred in Gaza in the hands of Israel and by the Indian Army in Kashmir.
Hajjah Chahnaz a kbaisi-hazari in his pocket book widely read “ which is Zaynab ” praised Bibi Zainab for having taken a stand for all humanity in the yazid courtyard.
By quoting the text of the bibi zainab sermon before Yazid ibn Muawiya, Kbaisi-hazari quotes it for saying; “Really God is truthful when he said: The end of the criminals was terrible, because they had rejected the revelations of God and mocked them. O Yazid, you assume that when you tightened the roads and the horizons of heaven, that we became slaves or captives and as we were abandoned by God and you were honored? are by the world.
The author also quotes the Bibi Zainab (AS) sermon, adding: “But wait and be aware, have you forgotten what God said? The unbelievers should not think that our respite is for their good. We give them time to let them increase their sins ”.
As part of the traditional pilgrimage to Karbala at that time of the year, pilgrims frequently visit the “Tila e Zainabiya” to pay tribute. This is a point of view from where Bibi Zainab looked at the last meeting and the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS)
The role of Zainab Bibi in the meeting in Karbala is often known over several days before “Arbaeen”, when pilgrims often walk from the holy city of Najaf, the location of the final rest of Hazrat Ali (AS), in Karbala.
The trip of 100 kilometers on foot known under the name of “Mishi” takes the pilgrims through a specially designated path on the roadside, neglected by tent sites filled with needs, food, tea and carbonated drinks at the dormitories. The verbal memory of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) and his disciples is often echoed here, as well as the memory of the sequelae.
In this pilgrims’ trip, the central role of Bibi Zainab finally defeating the chances of the Yazid Ibn Muawiya is often recalled. Many historians have rightly concluded that Bibi Zainab (AS) remains the central figure of the end of his brother’s mission. Today, she remembers him as the Savior of Karbala’s heritage.
