Karachi:

The President of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, inaugurated the new hub channel on Wednesday, stressing that water has been a long -standing problem for the residents of Karachi and must be addressed in priority.

He highlighted the importance of water for Karachi, adding that the renovation of the old Hub channel, as well as the construction of the new channel, would considerably improve the city’s water supply.

Bilawal has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the persistent delay of the federal government to complete the K-IV mega-IV project, which is crucial for the growing water needs of Karachi, according to an official press release.

The K-IV project, which is part of an initiative under way by the Sindh government and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), aims to cope with the city’s long-standing shortage of the city. Once finished, it is expected to provide 100 million additional gallons per day in Karachi.

Speaking during the inauguration, Bilawal pointed out: “It is unacceptable to operate with” Shehbaz Speed “for Lahore and to go to” Shehbaz Slow “for Karachi”. He criticized the lack of progress in the K-IV project and the non-compliance with the federal government to provide funds for Karachi’s development.

He added that he would raise the question of delayed funding with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and urged him to ensure the first end of the K-IV project. “I had hoped that the PM would support Karachi’s development with the same” Shehbaz Speed “that he has always shown for Lahore,” he said.

Speaking about the development of Karachi, Bilawal stressed the importance of cooperation between the Sindh government and local organizations. He expressed the hope that, during the next elections, the people would reject politicians who spread hatred and would support in place those who work for the well-being of the people.

He also condemned the actions of India concerning the Industrial Water Treaty, calling for the Modi government attempts to block the share of Pakistan water.

“India has financed terrorist organizations and intends to block Pakistan water under the Industry Water Treaty,” he said. He described this decision as a “historical attack on the Sindhu (Industry) river” and promised to face India both diplomatically and, if necessary, on the battlefield.

The president of the PPP reiterated the position of Pakistan, declaring that the country would not allow India to break the treaty. “If it is forced, we will seize the six rivers of India and deliver them to the inhabitants of Pakistan,” he added.

The ceremony was followed by the Sindh -Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, the lawyer for the mayor of Karachi Murtaza Wahab, the provincial ministers, PPP officials and other eminent citizens of the city.

He also paid tribute to PPP workers, in particular Karachi and Hyderabad, for their unshakable support to resist hatred policy and promote unity.

“For the first time in history, the PPP mayors were elected to Karachi and Hyderabad,” he said, recognizing the sacrifices made by party workers in these cities.

Bilawal concluded by emphasizing the need for continuous progress in Karachi and ensuring that development reaches all areas, including Lyari. “Work is also underway on a seawater desalination project as part of a public-private partnership model,” he added.
