Peshawar:

The government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa tabled a bill on the provincial Assembly on Monday to cut the wings of the governor who has already been replaced by the chief minister as Chancellor of public sector universities. In this regard, the Institute of Management Sciences (Amendment) The 2025 bill was presented to the Assembly, proposing modifications to the Ordinance of Sciences of IM 2002 to transform it into an act.

The bill also seeks to withdraw the governor as president of the Governors’ Council and to transfer this authority to the chief minister. To achieve this, an amendment was proposed in article 10, clause 1 of the IM IM science order 2002.

Once modified, the chief minister will assume the role of chairman of the Governors’ Council of 13 members, replacing the governor.

In addition, the MPA Akbar Ayub presented the Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology Haripur Bill 2025 in the Assembly.

Likewise, the Minister of Law AFTAB Alam presented a bill to modify the Sharia regulation Nizam-e-Adal, specifically revising the rules of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa 2009, in particular article 6a, clause 1 and section 1, clause 2.

The revised regulations will come into force immediately, guaranteeing the extension of the mandate of assistant judges according to performance rather than temporary extensions.

Members of the cabinet do not treat requests

During the session of the Assembly, the members of the cabinet could not answer questions about their respective departments.

Due to the unsatisfactory responses of the unrelevant AMPs, all the questions discussed during the time of questions have been referred to the respective permanent committees.

Members of the government and the opposition have raised concerns about wildlife, forests, industry, the environment, minerals and health services. However, due to the absence of most members of the cabinet, their requests were answered by other representatives of the government, whose responses were deemed inadequate.

Consequently, the president’s panel referred all these questions to the permanent committees. Some members of the Treasury have even criticized their own government, which raises concerns about departmental performance. The session was chaired by a panel by President Taj Muhammad.

Forest department under surveillance

During the time of questions, the MPA Abdul Ghani inquired about the number of factories purchased by the Department of Forests from a private nursery in the Khyber district in the past four years and pending outstanding payments .

He said that the ministry’s response was not satisfactory and that the private nursery was still due to Rs. 9 million.

In response, the Minister of Law AFTAB Alam said that payment had already been made and had asked the MPA to present evidence so that appropriate measures can be taken.
