Bitdeer buys a 101 MW gas plant in Alberta, Canada for Bitcoin farm

The Bitcoin mining company (BTC) Bitdeer announced today that it had acquired a 101 MW gas plant near Fox Creek, Alberta, to build a BTC mining operation “integrated vertically”.

“We are really delighted to plant roots in Alberta, our first site in Canada. This acquisition is the culmination of a vast collaboration with several government agencies and the Canadian Blockchain Consortium, said Haris Basit, director of strategy at Bitdeer, in a press release. “It marks an important step in our strategy to become the first fully vertically vertical. Miner Bitcoin integrated, giving us unequaled control over costs, energy efficiency and scalability.”

Bitdeer says they plan to build a 99 MW data center on the site. The site has the capacity to go to 1 GW. Energy production costs for installation will be between $ 20 and $ 25 per MW / H.

The factory is also authorized for an interconnection of 99 MW to the local electricity network, and Bitdeer said that it planned to sell power to the Alberta network to stabilize prices during periods of high demand.

“By combining our own electricity production, our Sealmin operating operating machines and our opportunistic participation, we believe that this site will establish a new reference for the economy of industry unit,” added Basit .

Bitdeer says that he plans to start preparing the site and the initial development of infrastructure in T2 2025 and that he fully operational in T4 2026.
