An explosion of bomb at Kohsar Cricket Ground in the Khar Tehsil region in the Bajaur district, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), died and a child injured on Saturday, the police confirmed.
The deceased was identified as Fazlullah. He and the injured child were transferred to the Khar district district headquarters hospital, added the police.
The explosion occurred in a local cricket match, causing panic among players and spectators. According to officials, the impact of the explosion was so powerful that its sound was resolved in distant areas, causing a generalized alarm.
“In a panic, many fled the ground while the explosion was shaking the ground,” said a police spokesman. “The explosion occurred when local players were actively engaged in the game.”
The security forces quickly arrived at the scene and completed the area. The site was examined for additional evidence while a survey was launched in the nature and source of the explosive device.
So far, no group has claimed the responsibility of the attack.
