Kansas City Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. competed for Team USA during the world’s classical baseball in 2023, and the Americans almost won the tournament but lost to Japan.
It was the first time that Witt represented the United States on the classic world baseball scene. He had already helped Team USA to win gold during the Pan American Baseball Confederation tournament (now known as WBSC Americas).

It will make its third appearance of the American team in the World Baseball 2026 classic.

On Monday, the interior field player of the American league MVP finalist led the majors in double (30) and reached 0.292 with a .837 OPS and 12 circuits.
