Islamabad:
The Minister of the Interior, Mohin Naqvi, met the Iranian Interior Minister on Wednesday, Eskandar Momeni in Tehran on Wednesday, where the two countries have made several important decisions to help pilgrims and improve border cooperation.
The two ministers agreed that the Pakistani-Iranian border will remain open 24 hours a day for Muharram and Arbaeen to facilitate religious pilgrims. The Iranian government will also provide accommodation and meals in Mashhad for 5,000 Pakistani pilgrims.
To quickly solve the problems, a hotline will be implemented between the two countries. A special meeting of three nations involving Pakistan, Iran and Iraq will be held in Mashhad before Arbaeen to plan better measures for pilgrims.
The two parties also agreed to increase the number of flights for pilgrims and discussed the sending of pilgrims per sea.
They also talked about working together to stop illegal immigration, trafficking in human beings and drug addict.
Improving border security and cooperation between the two countries has also been discussed.
Mohsin Naqvi thanked the Iranian government for supporting Pakistani pilgrims and ensured full cooperation concerning the release of Iranian fishermen who accidentally entered the Pakistani waters.
High civil servants of the two countries were present in Reunion.
