Julio César Chávez Jr. was arrested by immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) only four days after fighting Jake Paul at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
The Ministry of Internal Security announced the arrest on Thursday, saying that Chávez was treated for “the accelerated withdrawal of the United States”.
The announcement also said that Chávez had an arrest warrant in Mexico for its involvement in the Sinaloa cartel.
“On July 2, Ice arrested the Mexican and foreign illegal criminal boxer Julio César Chávez Jr.”, the announcement indicated X.
“It is now treated for an accelerated withdrawal from the United States. This affiliate of Sinaloa Cartel has an active arrest warrant in Mexico for its involvement in organized crime and trafficking in firearms, ammunition and explosives.”
