Turns out Brian Austin Green isn’t actually…Austin.
Yeah. Beverly Hills, 90210 The star just left a surprisingly chaotic (and hilarious) origin story behind her name — and it involves workroom negotiations, SAG rules, and a series of initials that nearly end her career.
Speaking on the Pod meets the world podcast, Green revealed that his name was essentially improvised mid-birth.
“My mom had a full name planned for me…and my dad – who smoked a lot of weed at that point in his life – when my mom was in labor, he showed up and was like, ‘Can we call him Brian?’ »
It’s safe to say his mother wasn’t in the mood to chat.
“It didn’t matter what his father wanted,” she said. “Get it out of me.”
And just like that… Brian Green was born. No middle name. No backup plan.
This later became a problem when he tried to join the Screen Actors Guild.
“I don’t think you can be in the union under the same name as someone else,” he explained after discovering – of course – that there already was a Brian Green.
Cue the naming crisis.
“We almost called me Brian Peter Green…but my initials would have been P…Brian P. Green…and they tell me that’s probably not a good start.”
Yeah. Difficult pass.
Ultimately, the solution came from the least glamorous place possible: a map.
“Brian Green is not a very easy name to come up with,” he admitted – but “Austin” stuck.
As for the other Brian Green? Let’s just say that when he was younger, he wasn’t thrilled.
“I wished [for] his disappearance when I was younger… I didn’t realize that was a terrible thing to wish on anyone.
From not having a middle name in Austin – honestly, it’s showbiz.
