Bring India to the table, the Bilawal urges the world

Islamabad:

Former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who heads a parliamentary delegation in the West, urged the international community on Saturday to play its role in permanent peace assurance in South Asia, including the resolution of the long-standing dispute of cashmere, water and terrorism problems by a composite dialogue which, he said, was not part.

Addressing a press conference for international media in Brussels, the president of the PPP stressed that military confrontation was not a solution to the question or terrorism of the cashmere.

“Dialogue is the only way to follow,” he said, calling on the international community to act actively with India to defuse tensions.

“It is a moral obligation for the international community to encourage the two parties to engage in diplomacy for regional peace,” he said, reiterating that Pakistan was looking for bilateral composite dialogue to solve all unanswered problems.

Bilawal also addressed the regional conflict involving Iran, saying: “We certainly do not want a war against this border (with Iran). Pakistan condemned the strikes that have taken place in the last two days in our neighboring country.”

“We will continue to defend peace on all our borders, whether with Afghanistan, Iran or India. We absolutely cannot afford to afford this conflict in Iran to transform into Iraq 2.0 or in the Second World War,” he said.

He warned that it had become “far too easy to have a war every month”, adding that war seemed to have become the default answer to any conflict or dispute.

Calling the international community to “immediately impose a ceasefire in this Iranian conflict with the occupation forces in Palestine,” said Bilawal, “we cannot have perpetual war. It is not used for our interests”.
