Bryson Dechambeau is with Bethpage Black with revenge.

When Dechambeau made the controversial passage of the PGA Tour for Liv Golf, he knew what he was registered, understand that it would be much more difficult to play in the Ryder Cup.

The automatic qualifications of the USA team make the team through the points of the Fedex Cup, which are affected in the four majors of golf and other PGA Tour events.

But with Liv Golf can only compete in the majors, Dechambeau missed the qualifications for the 2023 team and was not selected as the choice of captain.

“Yeah, it was null. I wanted to be there. I did not play well enough in the majors,” said Déchambeau to journalists on Thursday. “I knew what I was facing when I went to Liv. It’s a whole different conversation. But I still wanted to do the team and I couldn’t.”

After an overwhelming defeat without him in Rome two years ago, Dechambeau had eight chances for Bethpage (four majors in 2024 and 2025) to make the team of this year. In these tournaments, he won US Open 2024, finished second in the two PGA championships and had three other top 10.

This was enough not only to get it into the team, but to qualify automatically.

“Seeing the guys lose a fire in my stomach and wanted to do the team this time. Now we are here, and we are far from starting probably, otherwise the most exciting golf event,” said Dechambeau.

It is a relief for Dechambeau, which was not eligible for last year’s Olympic Games and could not compete in 2021 after being comfortable.

The European Ryder Cup player did not impress by Trump’s attendance: “Just another spectator”

“It was a fairly important shot for the heart. Playing in team events all my whole life, playing in the Walker Cup, World Amateur, many other team events, that’s all I wanted to do while growing up,” he said.

But since his lack of Rome, he has turned Bethpage on his calendar.

“Being on the Ryder Cup for a winning team and a losing team, experimenting with both the ups and downs and missing in Rome, it put something in my stomach that made it a mission project for me,” said a stoic Dechambeau. “I want to be part of this team and be the most useful person I can for this team in any way possible.

“The words are really not there to explain how much I am passionate about this team from the United States and how positive we are and how positive we are and how encouraging we are, we are inspiring and what this captain has done to bring us together, to group us like others like perhaps no other captain has done in history.

“Make this team was one of my passionate projects. It was A1,” he added. “It was the thing I wanted to do the most, represent my country.”

Dechambeau has a 2-3-1 file in his career as Ryder Cup, making his first team in 2018. He played alongside Tiger Woods, and the Ryder Cup 2018 remains the last time that Woods has contributed to the event.
