Bushra Bibi, wife of the founder of PTI, Imran Khan and former First Lady, approached the High Court of Islamabad (IHC) in search of better facilities in Adiala prison, where she is currently serving a sentence of seven years in the case of 190 million pounds sterling.
Through his lawyers, Bushra Bibi filed a petition asking the authorities to provide improved amenities under the rules of Pakistan prison, 1978.
In her plea, the former First Lady said that she had resided in the Prime Minister’s house during her husband’s mandate and, due to her lifestyle and her previous state of life, was legally entitled to certain comforts and installations in prison.
The petition allegedly allegedly alleged the submission of an official request to the Superintendent of Adiala prison, no measure has been taken.
He also argued that her husband, Imran Khan, was also declared eligible for improving prison conditions when she was held in the same establishment. She asked the court to ask the authorities to fulfill their legal responsibilities similarly.
Bushra Bibi appointed the federal government, the Superintendent of the Adiala prison and the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad as an respondent in the case.
What is the case of 190 million pounds sterling?
The case alleys that Imran Khan and other people involved adjusted by 50 billion rupees – equivalent to 190 million pounds at the time – which was transferred by the National Crime Agency (NCA) of the United Kingdom to the Pakistani government.
As PM, Khan obtained approval from the cabinet for these regulations on December 3, 2019, without disclosing confidential details of the agreement. The arrangement had stipulated that the funds would be subject to the Supreme Court.
According to NAB officials, Khan and his wife have received land of billions of rupees intended for the construction of an educational institute.
Nab filed the reference on December 1, 2023 against eight accused, including Imran and his wife.
