A local court in Islamabad on Monday rejected three bail pleas filed by Bushra Bibi, wife of former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan.
Additional Sessions Justice Muhammad Afzal Majoka heard motions on cases related to the November 26 protests, Express News reported.
Prosecutor Iqbal Kakhar and defense lawyer Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry appeared in court during the proceedings.
Bushra Bibi’s lawyer filed a request for exemption from appearance.
The prosecutor argued that Bushra Bibi did not submit the required sureties. The judge expressed concern, saying, “You haven’t submitted the bonds yet. You are not following court orders.
Defense lawyer Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry responded that Bushra Bibi was due to appear in court for a decision on the £90 million reference and that she was to attend Adiala Prison.
Justice Majoka later rejected the bail applications, noting that the interim bail previously granted to Bushra Bibi was only valid until the date of the hearing. The charges against her stem from her alleged involvement in the November 26 protests.
A Rawalpindi accountability court on Monday postponed announcing its verdict for the third time in the £190 million case involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi.
Judge Nasir Javed Rana said the verdict was postponed due to the absence of the accused and their legal representatives, Express News reported.
The judge said that although he arrived at court at 8:30 a.m. and issued two summons to Imran Khan, neither Khan nor Bushra Bibi showed up.
