ESPN’s broadcaster, Dick Vitale, came to the defense of the star of Indiana Fever Caitlin Clark after his WNBA peers voted for him as the ninth best star guard.
Clark’s classification was a shock for many in the social media landscape. She was named one of the captains for the star game and received more than 1.2 million fans votes. The WNBA determined the starters of the stars according to the rank of fans, the row of the media and the rank of the players. The total balanced score helped to determine the starters.

The second-year guard was ranked ninth among its All-Stars colleagues,
“It is absurd how a #wnba players treated @CaitlLclark22! So sad but I bet that they like charter flights – the increase in wages – the crowd – TV notes since it arrived from @iowawbb. Without any doubt, it is the best – thing that happens to the WNBA,” he wrote on X.
He was far from being the only one to express his opinion on the question.
A potential reason why Clark’s peers have classified him so low among the guards is to play only nine of the 16 games of the fever this season. Clark faced injuries during her second season, which is now continuing because she has missed the last two games.
