The University of California of Davis has announced its intention to convert its male and female changing rooms into its leisure centers in the “Universal” changing rooms. The decision caused the indignation of women’s rights activists.
The University announced the renovation project in February, saying that it suppressed the old vestiaire format for the purpose of “inclusiveness.
“We appreciate the inclusive and accessible environments that meet the various needs of our community. We are pleased to announce that we will renovate the current installations of the locker room to implement universal changing rooms,” said the university in its advertisement.
“All members of campus leisure can use our universal changing rooms, it doesn’t matter who they are or how they identify. These spaces include disabled members and members of all gender identities.”
