California filed a complaint against the Ministry of Justice on Monday after the officials have asked the state public schools to confirm that they will prevent transgender athletes from participating in girls sports.
The State declared in its trial that the Ministry of Justice had “no right to make such a request” and had cited “no authority which would allow them to issue or apply the letter of certification” to each local education agency.
California defended the laws that are questioned, which allow athletes to participate in sports “in accordance with” their gender identity and does not violate the equal protection clause of the fourteenth amendment.

The trial indicated that the statutes of the State “do not classify or do not discriminate according to” biological sex “, does not require that schools” deprive[e] [cisgender] Students with sports opportunities and advantages based on their gender, “and do no differential treatment based on sex.
“Instead, allowing sports participation in accordance with the gender identity of students is substantially linked to the important interests of the government to grant all students the advantages of an inclusive school environment, including participation in school sports and the prevention of serious damage that transgender students would suffer from an exclusive and exclusive policy,” added the trial.
The state requested an injunction to the letter of request.
Last week, Deputy Prosecutor General Harmeet Dhillon Dhillon declared in a letter obtained by PK Press Club Digital that public school districts had to “certify in writing” by June 9 that they would not respect the identity rules of the interscholastic federation of California.
“Student’s school deprivation and sporting benefits based on their gender would constitute unconstitutional sex discrimination under the equal protection clause,” wrote Dhillon in the letter.

California Interscholastic Federation governs public and private sports in the state and has a regulation which obliges its members to recognize gender identity in sports.
All students should be able to participate in school sports “in accordance with their gender identity, whatever the genre listed on a student’s files,” said the regulations.
Dhillon, a former conservative lawyer based in California, said that the certifications she was looking for in public school districts “would ensure compliance” with title IX and help them “avoid legal responsibility”.
California prosecutor Rob Bonta said in a statement that the trial had been filed “in anticipation of imminent legal reprisals against California school systems” not adhering to Dhillon’s request, according to Los Angeles Times.
“The president and his administration require that the school districts of California violate the law and violate the Constitution – or face legal reprisals. They demand that our schools discriminate the students payable and deny their rights protected by the Constitution,” Bonta wrote. “As we have proven over and over again in court, simply because the president does not agree with a law, that does it.”
The Ministry of Justice has made no immediate comments on the trial.
The Doj had previously filed a complaint against Maine after the state has repeatedly allowed the executive order of President Donald Trump to keep men away from sports for girls and women.

The Ministry of Justice accused the Maine of “flouting openly and challenging the anti-discrimination federal law by applying policies that oblige girls to compete with boys of sports competitions designated exclusively for girls”.
The last chapter in California between the state and the Trump administration occurred a few days after the Transgender athlete Ab Hernandez won state championships in the girls’ division.
