Former NFL star Cam Newton shared his thoughts on women having children with multiple fathers in a recent podcast.

“It’s Giving” host Sarah Fontenot spoke to the former Carolina Panthers star about having a child and having a new man in her life. She asked Newton if he felt that “a woman’s value diminishes when she has several children by several men.”

“I just think the reality of that answer is that the value of women goes down the more children they have,” he said on the podcast. “I was having this conversation with one of my kids’ mothers and she’s still doing well. I was telling her, ‘The guy you’re dating or will date, if he doesn’t want to love these five kids that you have, he’s not the guy for you.’

“Because when I came into your life, I was ready to accept you and everything you had, and there are guys who are going to say, ‘They’re not my kids. I want you.’ Well, that’s not how it works. But that doesn’t mean you can’t find anyone. I’m pretty sure she has someone.”

Fontenot pressed Newton further, asking if he thought that was the best she could do if she didn’t have children. Newton said he didn’t think she could do better than him.

She added that she didn’t feel like most women were doing better than the man who fathered their children.

“That’s true love. I owe them a favor,” he said. “I’ll always be indebted to them because no matter how they make me feel, once I get back on the field, ‘Yo, she’s still the mother of my kids.’ It’s like one of those family business type situations. We may have our arguments, but when we leave that door, you’ll never necessarily know and we know, individually, like, brother, don’t talk to me right now.

“But then some things will happen, and you know you can count on me. It’s just our toxic thrill.”

Newton said that as he grew older, he came to terms with controlling his thinking, “altering” himself, and “controlling negativity.”
