- Canon teases the launch event for September 9, 2025 at 2 p.m. BST
- The partially obscured image greatly refers to the new film camera
- According to rumors, the Canon Eos C50, a direct rival of the Sony FX3
Canon Europe posted a teaser on its YouTube, referring to a major launch of the new camera next week. Under the title “Something New Is Coming!”, The video should be presented at first at 2 p.m. on September 9.
For the moment, everything that can be seen on the preview screen is a partially lit body and camera lens, but Canon has left large clues about what we can expect – namely the large red shutter button and an enlightened red count. The two are characteristics associated with the brand’s film cameras, taken next to the shape of the camera body (Boxy, without Bulge viewfinder) strongly suggests that we get our first overview of a new Cinema EOS camera next week.
To watch
The online rumor factory has already been over -off on this new launch, saying that the new camera will be the EOS C50 Canon, a compact replacement for the current Eos R5 C cannon and a direct rival of the Sony FX3, four years. The suggestion of compact proportions, much smaller than the EOS C70, certainly totals the Teaser image.
Please note, Sony FX3 …
According to SonyALPHARUMORS, the EOS C50 Canon will be delivered with a complete 32 MP sensor and can draw an open door, using the entire sensor surface – width and height – for recording. This is something that we have already seen on some Panasonic Lumix cameras, models of blackmagic cinema cameras and more, but not on Sony or Canon cameras.
The C50 will weigh less than 700 g (lens not included), which makes it extremely compact and light for a film camera.
If the Canon EOS C50 arrives with the features and the design mentioned above, it could prove to be a much more tempting perspective than the aging FX3. According to rumors, Sony will have been working on a highly anticipated FX3 II for a long time, so we can have a new battle for compact cinema cameras to be hoped for.
