- Capcom revealed new Resident Evil Requiem gameplay on Japanese TV
- The new gameplay segment features gun fights with the main protagonist, Grace Ashcroft.
- Marketing of the game could accelerate with the Game Awards scheduled for December 11
Months later Resident Evil RequiemDuring Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest 2025, Capcom remained tight-lipped about the next installment in its action-horror franchise, often leaving fans frustrated with the marketing. However, that seems to be stopping from now on.
During a resident Evil special program broadcast on Japanese television (video available below), Resident Evil RequiemCombat has been revealed, with the game’s main protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, fending off zombies, as spotted by noted leaker AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem on X.
For the first time, Grace Ashcroft can be seen brandishing and firing a gun at a zombie before being bitten and chased by another aggressive flesh-eater, in a sequence very reminiscent of those in Resident Evil 2. This highlights Capcom’s obvious attempts to recall the classic horror experience that long-time fans know from the franchise, as we revisit Raccoon City in-game.
Although it’s probably satisfactory for many resident Evil fans like me to finally see new footage after months of seeing the gameplay demo featuring the game’s stalker enemy, the time and location of this reveal highlights just how strange and unusual Capcom’s marketing cycle has been for what are, arguably, its most anticipated titles in years.

Fortunately, the marketing secrecy may be coming to an end, with The Game Awards 2025 scheduled for December 11 (also hosted by Geoff Keighley), and this reveal suggests a bigger reveal is on the horizon.
Capcom has already confirmed that a Resident Evil showcase is planned for early 2026, and The Game Awards 2025 is the last big stop where a major reveal would be ideal. Therefore, the chances of marketing continuing at full throttle are very likely – unless, of course, we end up seeing the exact same content, Again.
From Resident Evil Requiem is already open for pre-orders, many would have expected to see at least more of what the game has to offer in terms of gameplay and mechanics, but that hasn’t been the case.
I really appreciate that Capcom is holding its cards close so as not to spoil or reveal too much of the experience before its February 27, 2026 launch, but that also doesn’t mean that showing the same content for the majority of the game’s marketing cycle is acceptable.
While this happened in a very strange way with a reveal seemingly exclusive to Japanese television (be warned, this is a globally beloved franchise), it’s a step in the right direction, and I’m confident that a major character reveal is on the way for the Game Awards, followed by a massive gameplay showcase in January.
