Carnival Cruise Line cancels 11 cruises amid growing labor scandal and worker exploitation allegations

Carnival Cruise Line suddenly announced the cancellation of more than a month of sailings for its most popular ships.

This announcement dashed the vacation plans of thousands of passengers who had booked their vacations for fall 2026.

Officials say the abandoned sailings include 11 three- and four-night Baja Mexico cruises aboard the Carnival Firenze.

The cancellation will have a direct impact on bookings between October 12 and November 16, 2026. The affected departure dates are October 12, 16, 19, 23, 26, 30 and November 2, 6, 9, 13 and 16.

The official cancellation notification states: “We have made some changes to the itinerary plans for Carnival Firenze and unfortunately your cruise has been canceled. »

The cancellation comes as the cruise giant faces growing pressure over the exploitation of crew members. Allegations include overcrowded housing, unsafe drinking water and wages as low as $2.50 an hour on its vessels operating in Australian waters.

Although Carnival stressed that the cancellation of the Florence Carnival is not linked to social controversy, the timing could not be worse for a beleaguered company.

Last week, SafeWork NSW and the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) were physically blocked from boarding the Carnival Adventure in Sydney as they attempted to assess whistleblower reports of “horrible crew conditions”.
