Lahore / Islamabad:

The Pakistan transport sector regularly moves gears from traditional fuel engines to electric vehicles (VE), pulled by a mixture of local innovation, international partnerships and increasingly focus on sustainability.

The global mobility platform is the management of Global Mobility, which has launched multiple initiatives to accelerate the adoption of the EV, target cost savings for drivers, reduce carbon emissions and align with the government’s vision by 30% EV penetration by 2030.

“The EV market in Pakistan is ready for growth,” said Aman Alekseev, head of impact projects at Indrive, in an interview with Express PK Press Club. “New local manufacturers are emerging and Chinese companies enter the market. We create collaborations to make this transition inclusive and scalable,” he added.

One of its flagship projects is to associate with local startups to offer drivers an affordable route to electric vehicles. Thanks to a modernization model, petrol motorcycles are converted into electrics to a fraction of the cost of purchasing news. Equipped with swapple batteries, these bikes are supported by 21 exchange stations in Islamabad.

More than six months, 60 converted motorcycles have collectively traveled more than 400,000 kilometers, allowing drivers to save around 1.4 million rupees in terms of fuel and maintenance. On average, cyclists save 40% compared to petrol bikes.

To further facilitate the financial burden, the company with its partners pilot a program “ buying now, pay later ” (BNPL), allowing drivers to buy new electric bikes with a minimum of initial costs, said Alekseev.

The Indrive also targets four -wheeled electric vehicles via other partnerships, which plans to deploy 50 electric cars each in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi for carpooling services. “Initiatives like these strengthen trust and conscience,” said Alekseev. “They show that electric vehicles are not only a concept, they are a reality that benefits everyday people.”

The company is the first in Pakistan to integrate AI into drawing operations, taking advantage of automatic learning for smarter sending, fraud detection and better customer experience, “Pakistan Muhammad Awais Saeed said, talking to a group of journalists.

He is currently engaged in discussions with stakeholders to introduce electric vehicles and sustainable transport alternatives, “he said, adding that development projects include bicycle exchange stations, modernization of existing bikes and potential collaboration with the local car manufacturer Honi on their EV model.

He also attracted attention to a few bureaucratic slowders with which the company is struggling with Pakistan.
