RAWALPINDI:
The All Pakistan Transport Federation, Inter-District Transport Union, Inter-District Transport Union, Goods Transport Union and Pick-up and Drop Unions of Students and Government Employees have announced an all-out strike on Friday, December 19, to protest against heavy traffic fines, challans, vehicle impounds and allegations of harassment.
Transport federation leaders said that on December 19, goods and public transport from Khyber to Karachi would be paralyzed.
Bus, wagon and train services, intra-city transport, markets, commercial zones, business centers, industrial units, factories, banking sector, petrol pumps, government offices, educational institutions, wholesale markets, supply chains and transportation of goods will all remain closed.
They said the strike would continue until the new system of tickets and fines was withdrawn.
Vice President and spokesperson Asif Khan, Lala Suhail and Tariq Khan said the government had not kept any of its promises and was now moving towards a complete wheel strike after consulting other sectors. “On December 19, Pakistan will be closed – completely closed,” they said.
