CDA begins handing over plots in Sector I-15 after 20 years

The move, part of a long-delayed housing project, follows two decades of development work

The Capital Development Authority has started handing over possession of over 8,600 developed plots out of 10,200 in Islamabad’s I-15 sector, valued at over Rs70 billion.

At a ceremony held at the Jinnah Convention Center on Thursday, over 200 beneficiaries were issued possession orders. The I-15 sector housing project was initially launched for low-income citizens.

The CDA chairman said that after more than two decades of delay, the development works have been completed and the possession process has officially begun on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, prioritizing the housing needs in the capital.

He appreciated NAB’s cooperation in removing obstacles to the project and recognized its role in ensuring the legal rights of beneficiaries. Other winners will soon receive certificates at their doorsteps.

To reduce terrain-related irregularities, CDA works with SUPARCO to implement cutting-edge technology. NAB Director General Waqar Ahmed Chauhan congratulated the beneficiaries, saying the verification of documents was completed before the issuance of possession letters.

He announced that NAB and CDA would jointly introduce a new transparency system in the housing sector, including barcoded letters of award and mandatory escrow accounts for housing societies to ensure that deposited funds are spent only on development activities.

The CDA chairman said public confidence in the authority’s policies reflects their commitment, adding that development works in other backlogged sectors, including C-14, have been expedited and possession will soon be handed over to the beneficiaries.
