Field Marshal and Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Syed Asim Munir visited Germany from February 12 to 14 to attend meetings on the sidelines of the 62nd Munich Security Conference.
The CDF interacted with several dignitaries, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and discussed issues of mutual interest, including global and regional security dynamics and counterterrorism cooperation.
As part of its interactions with German authorities, the CDF called on German Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt, the German Federal Chancellor’s foreign and security policy advisor Günter Sautter and the head of the German Federal Army, General Carsten Breuer.
The meetings focused on contemporary security issues, bilateral defense cooperation and the need to promote global peace and security through bilateral and multilateral dialogue.
“Furthermore, the COAS and CDF had a productive meeting with Admiral Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire, Chief of Joint Staff of the Brazilian Armed Forces and discussed bilateral military cooperation.
“General Rodolph Haykal, Commander of the Lebanese Republic Armed Forces, also called upon the COAS and CDF. During the interaction, the global and regional security situation and measures to strengthen bilateral defense collaboration were discussed,” said a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
