CDWP Greenlights RS55B Umbrella Projects

The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) – A key planning and project approval organization – approved five development projects worth 55.164 billion rupees for sustainable economic development in the country.

A CDWP meeting was held on Friday under the presidency of the Federal Minister of Planning Ahsan Iqbal Greenlight these projects. The five, three projects totaling 47.439 billion rupees were referred to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval.

The agenda has focused on development projects in key sectors, including the environment, food and agriculture, health and physical planning and housing. A project linked to the environment sector – The installation of the meteorological surveillance radar in Sukkur – worth 5725.013 million rupees was also approved.

The president noticed a disproportionate delay in the implementation of the project with a Japanese subsidy and ordered the relevant authority to finish it as a priority.

A project linked to food and agriculture – a subsistence project in Balutchistan and entrepreneurship – has also been recommended at the ECNEC. The revised cost of the project is RS12461.661 million. It will be funded through the World Bank and the International Development Association (IDA) and the MDTF.

The main objective of the project is to promote job possibilities for rural communities and ensure the sustainability of companies in eight Balutchistan districts, notably Chagai, Killa Abdullah, Killa Saifullah, Mastung, Nushki, Pishin, Sherani and Zhob.

The project aims to benefit rural households by supporting the means of subsistence thanks to the development of businesses and the creation of jobs. In addition, it will extend the advantages of communities for business development in the sectors – agriculture, livestock, forestry, mines and minerals, tourism and industry.

Ahsan Iqbal ordered that the additional scope of the work should include tangible and impact -oriented interventions within the framework of the project.
