For the first time in a decade, an American won at the French Open after Coco Gauff beat Aryna Sabalenka in three sets to recover the trophy at Roland-Garros.
Gauff’s second big chelem is not easy. She had to throw the world’s n ° 1 match on the famous Clay Court. She was broken after the first equality breakage went to Sabalenka, but Gauff rallied and had a noisy crowd behind her who finally led to a celebration of fire.
Gauff has received many social media for his victory, notably Michelle and Barack Obama.

“Congratulations, @cocogauff!” Michelle Obama wrote. “Your determination, strength and grace throughout the France Open have inspired us – and showed us what is possible. Proud of you!”
The former president added: “Congratulations to @cocogauff for an incredible championship at the French Open – the first American champion in single at @rolandgarros in a decade. You make us all proud.”
Gauff was locked up on the ground, but there were many American celebrities in the stands of Roland-Garros, including director Spike Lee, actor Dustin Hoffman, “inside the NBA” host Ernie Johnson and others.
Those of the tennis world were delighted to see the tenacity and determination of Gauff.
“Congratulations to @cocogauff for his second female title of the Grand Slam in simple, and his first title in simple in #RolandGarros!” The great tennis Billie Jean King wrote on X. “Exceptional!”
Even Carlos Alcaraz, who will face Jannik Sinner in the final of male singles in Roland-Garros, took the time to congratulate Gauff.
“Many congratulations @cocogauff !!!” He wrote on X.

Another tennis legend, Martina Navratilova, described the performance of Gauff “a comeback and a fight!”
Even the dolphins of Miami and Miami Heat displayed Gauff’s victory. She has heavy ties in southern Florida after having grown up in Delray Beach.
As mentioned by many who congratulated her, Gauff won two Grand Chelem victories, winning her at 2023 US Open.

Gauff was ranked the single 2 player in simple entering this tournament, and she leaves the number 1 with another trophy to her credit while the season continues.
