The Canadian Football League has announced major changes to come on the field over the next two years.
The LCF, which plays on a plot of 110 yards and has a 20 yards of 20 yards, will reduce its size, the league announced on Monday. The League said that the field changes, as well as a few other modifications, were part of its effort to make the game more exciting.

The LCF teams will be able to start closer to the end zones of their opponents and the quarter of work “encourages the more aggressive game in third drop with offenses starting 10 meters from the opponent’s goals and goals on the field being only 5 meters further, despite the offbeat goal posts”, according to the League. The width of 65 yards on the ground will remain the same.
The LCF said that it will always have the largest goal area of any professional football league and “preserve the importance of kicking game”.
The goal posts will move to the back of the goal area in the hope of removing obstructions for the teams trying to score a touchdown. The League said it would be better for the television presentation and for stadium fans.
These three modifications will be implemented in 2027.

LCF changes to the Rogue will be implemented next season. The Rogue is a score of a point attributed on certain league games. From 2026, only one point is attributed when a turner -up “cannot take a clearance of clearance, a basket or a kick -off of the goal area” or a return takes a knee. The league will no longer accept a point for missed goals which go largely from goal posts or on backgrounds or ships that pass through the back or sides of the goal area without being hit.
The League will also move the team benches to the opposite sides on the field as well as a 35 -second game clock which begins once the previous game is finished. These rules will start in 2026.
The LCF argued that the league will always be “very Canadian” despite the upcoming changes.
“These changes aim to increase entertainment, while supporting and maintaining the traditions of our game, such as Three Downs, 12 players on the field, the waggle and much more. These changes make our game more exciting and more entertaining,” said LCF.
“The league has already seen the changes of rule. Before 1929, launching the ball in front was illegal – imagine when the league changed this rule. At one point, the division is used to playing two games with the total score determining the winner, while the west division played a series of three best – imagine this format today.

“The LCF, like all the other successful long -standing leagues, has continued and innovated over the years, and will continue to do so to benefit fans and strengthen the future of Canadian football.”
The LCF said that no other major change was planned.
