Openai has changed its plans and is ready to put the Chatpp-5 on hold while publishing new O3 and O4-Mini models in the coming weeks in place.
The news broke out today in a tweet By the CEO of Openai, Sam Altman, in which he revealed why the plans changed:
“There are a lot of reasons for this,” wrote Altman, “but the most exciting is that we are going to be able to make GPT-5 much better than we thought.
“We also found it more difficult than we thought that it was going to be to integrate everything, and we want to make sure that we have enough capacity to support what we expect to be an unprecedented demand.”
The mention of “the ability to support an unprecedented demand” is clearly a reference to the recent breakdowns that Chatgpt has suffered while millions of new users have registered to try the new capacities for generation of chatgpt-4o images.

The next evolution of AI
Chatgpt-5 is the next great evolution of the popular Chatgpt LLM and will be a major development in the future of AI.
Its simpler name was also supposed to represent a change of alignment in the names of name of the somewhat confusing products of Openai which will soon simultaneously include an O4 and 4O model in the range.

Chatgpt-o3 Improvements
Commenting on the new O3 model, Altman also said that: “We were able to really improve what we previewed for O3 in many ways; I think people will be happy … “
Responding to a user on X who asked if there would also be an O3 Pro model, Altman gave a word response – “to come!” – which seems to confirm that a pro version of O3 is also in preparation.
As for the moment when we see the O3 and O4-Mini models, Altman said: “In a few weeks, then do GPT-5 in a few months”.
