Karachi:
Whatsapp’s messages sent by a mother accused of having killed her two children in Karachi surfaced, shedding light on her involvement in crime.
Depending on the details, the woman, identified as Adeeba, exchanged messages with her ex-Mari Ghufran before and after allegedly murdered her son and daughter. In a message sent after the murders, Adeeba wrote: “Now you have to be happy, do you see what I did because of you?”
Conversations reveal routine discussions in the hours preceding the incident. At Adeeba’s request, Ghufran had bought independence day clothes for children.
The messages also show him to ask questions about their preparations: “Does Zarrar have a Shalwar Kameez for tomorrow?” And “tell Sameeha what to wear tomorrow.”

Other texts included details on the purchase of shoes, the layout of green kurtas and the decoration of flags. Adeeba also wrote: “Sameeha prepared for tomorrow, she also has flags with her.” Ghufran replied with photos of children dressed for celebrations, to which Adeeba replied: “Mashallah, when were they prepared? Where is the Zarrar cap?”
Later, she asked her ex-husband if the children had asked permission to spend the night, to what Ghufran responded with an emoji smile and said yes.
One day earlier, the police arrested Adeeba and recovered the pointed object that she used to split the throat of her children. According to the authorities, she had history of mental illness and frequent crises, which led her divorce last year. The court had granted child care to their father, Ghufran, who sometimes sent them to visit their mother.
On the day of the incident, the children stayed with Adeeba when she would have suffered a crisis and, in a state of mental imbalance, attacked them in the bathroom. The victims were identified as Sameeha, 4.5 years old, and Zarrar, seven years old. The police said that Deeeba called her his ex-husband to admit the killings.
The children’s father and uncle then alerted the police through the emergency line. The police arrived at the scene, recovered the bodies and transferred them to Jinnah hospital for legal proceedings.
