China puts pressure for the `improved version ” from CPEC in Pakistan

Islamabad:

The Chinese Foreign Minister has congratulated the friendship “foolproof” between China and Pakistan and reiterated his country’s firm support in Pakistan in the safeguarding of his sovereignty, the fight against terrorism and the pursuit of a development path adapted to his national conditions.

“China will continue to support Pakistan in the player of a greater role in international and regional affairs,” said Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC), in a press release published by the Chinese Foreign Ministry in Beijing on Wednesday.

Wang added that the two countries should work towards an “improved version” of the CPEC, expanding cooperation in fields such as industry, agriculture, energy, mineral resources, human resources development, the fight against terrorism and security.

The statement was published after high-level talks between Darrier Minister Ishaq Dar, who is also the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing on Wednesday.

According to the press release, China and Pakistan have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen their strategic cooperative partnership all time. The discussions have underlined bilateral cooperation in security, economic development and regional stability, while highlighting objectives shared under the CPEC and the vision of a Chinese-Pakistani community with a common future.

Prime Minister Dar also reaffirmed the unshakable support of Pakistan for the principle of China and expressed his admiration for the achievements of China in terms of innovation and technology. He transmitted Pakistan’s desire to extend complete cooperation with China and called for continuous Chinese support to help Pakistan meet economic and security challenges.

He also assured his counterpart that Pakistan remains determined to ensure the safety of all members of Chinese staff, projects and institutions operating within its borders.

Earlier, Pakistan, China and Afghanistan agreed to extend the CPEC to Afghan territory, marking an important stage in trilateral cooperation under the Belt and Road initiative.

The agreement occurred at an informal trilateral meeting held in Beijing between the Preduty PM DAR, the Chinese FM and the Minister of Affairs of Afghanistan, Amir Khan Muttaqi.

The three parties called their vital cooperation for regional stability and agreed that economic integration was the key to shared progress. They also stressed the importance of fighting terrorism and working collectively towards peace and sustainable development.
