A delegation of prominent Chinese investors has expressed interest in investments in Punjab.
At a meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed happiness at seeing women investors being part of the Chinese delegation.
The chief minister met the delegation before her departure for a visit to Brazil.
She said on the occasion that Punjab has immense investment potential. She added that for the first time, a ‘zero start-up delay’ policy has been introduced in Punjab to provide complete facilitation to investors. She said that Punjab is going through one of the best phases in terms of investment opportunities.
She highlighted that industrial zones and parks in Punjab offer excellent investment potential.
The chief minister said investors would also benefit from tax exemptions and relief on import duties. She added that infrastructure, information technology and medical tourism present lucrative opportunities for foreign investment in the province.
She added that following her last visit to China, the Punjab government had introduced innovation in medical and other sectors.
She highlighted that the real estate and infrastructure sectors in Punjab could generate quick profitable returns, adding that the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) project would serve as a model for infrastructure development in the province.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz highlighted that for the first time, more than 100,000 houses were constructed in 10 months.
She said that with the growth of the tourism sector, there was an increasing demand for the construction of more quality hotels to accommodate tourists across Punjab.
She said that for the first time, glass train and bullet trains were being introduced in Punjab and a large area had also been allocated for establishing the largest medical district in the province.
She highlighted that business processes in Punjab had been completely shifted to an online system, adding that no files or documents were required to start a business and investors could apply easily and start their business instantly.
Top officials of several Chinese companies have expressed keen interest in making investments in several sectors in Punjab.
Social protection
In a meeting with parliamentarians and other leaders from Mianwali and Wazirabad, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said pay vouchers of Rs 10,000 each were delivered to the doorsteps of three million people in Ramazan, while 1.5 million people across the province were getting Rs 3,000 per month each through the ration cards.
The chief minister said that protection of lives and property of people was the responsibility of the state.
She said she would not disappoint the farmers of Punjab. She added that many major projects would be launched for the people of the province.
The parliamentarians expressed gratitude for the launch of the Green Bus project in Mianwali and Wazirabad. They also appreciated the ‘Clean Punjab’ project and pledged to work in unison under its leadership to maintain law and order in the province.
According to a statement, they also paid tribute to him for launching an e-Biz portal to increase business activities in the province, in addition to his initiative to end the illegal occupation of private properties.
