Chris Kluwe, a former NFL bettor who was arrested at a meeting of the municipal council of Huntington Beach, California, said on Wednesday that he wanted other officials “begin to engage in civil disobedience “.
The NFL veteran spoke against a plaque with an acronym “Maga” placed in front of the city’s library for its 50th anniversary. The plaque will have the words “magic”, “attractive”, “galvanizing” and “adventurous” next to each other. He will also read: “Thanks to hope and change, our nation has recognized better in the golden era to make America again!”

The former NFL player then executed his “peaceful civil disobedience” while he rushed to the members of the council before being arrested and carried out by police officers. He was then accused of having disrupted an assembly.
Kluwe was a long -standing critic of President Donald Trump and compared the “Make America Great Again” campaign to a “Nazi movement”. He told the daily pilot on Wednesday that he wanted other “elected democrats” to follow him.
“I want our elected democrats to start engaging in civil disobedience,” he said at the point of sale. “People must be aware that what is happening with this administration is leading us on a really dark path. At the moment, no one is ready to intervene and do it. So, if I want to ask them to do it, then I have to be willing to do so too.

Kluwe added criticism of council members.
“People are expressed because it’s the American thing to do,” he said. “You are a public citizen, your voice must be heard. But it is very discouraging when your elected officials do not listen to your voice …
“It is deeply non -American to do what this advice does, and I think there are many people in this community who get this. At a very visceral level, what we see is not how America is supposed to work. “”

Gracey van der Mark, member of the municipal council and former mayor of Huntington Beach, defended the “beautiful conservative city” and declared that Kluwe had obtained his “five minutes of glory”.
