- Samsung TVs Old and New Now Get Google Cast Support
- This makes streaming content on the big screen much easier
- The rollout may take some time to reach all eligible models
Google says we won’t see any more Chromecast dongles, but the Google Cast technology they used lives on – and Samsung has started rolling out support for it for some models launching in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
As spotted by Android Authority, the move means these TVs no longer rely on Samsung’s Smart View technology to deliver content on the big screen. This gives users a lot more flexibility, especially those who don’t have a Galaxy phone.
We’d previously heard that Google Cast would be supported on all new Samsung TVs for 2026, via the built-in One UI Tizen software – models such as the Samsung S99H/S95H, for example – and now we know that older TVs are also getting the upgrade.

It’s unclear which older TVs are eligible, but updates are popping up all over the web: on Reddit, one user reports that their 2024 Samsung S90D now has this feature. However, a full deployment will likely take some time.
Google Cast for everyone

We hope that all Samsung TVs launched in the last two years will benefit from Google Cast functionality. One of its advantages is its lightness and simplicity, so there should be no problems in terms of hardware capabilities.
As FlatpanelsHD reports, the Tizen v2115 update is the one to watch. The article says the rollout is now “confirmed” for 2024, 2025, and 2026 models, although it doesn’t mention 2023 TVs, which Android Authority is referring to.
Google Cast is natively supported by the Google TV platform (used by manufacturers like Sony), and by the webOS software developed by LG. All this means Chromecast dongles aren’t necessary, although you can still get the Google TV Streamer, of course.
If you’re completely new to Google Cast, it’s a standard way to cast content to a larger TV screen, via built-in controls available in a host of Android and iOS apps, as well as YouTube on desktop and the Google Chrome browser.
