In March, we pointed out that Chromecastes obtained a free update at Android 14 – and they were, for a while, until Google draws the update live. But now the update is back! Back! BACK!
There are two versions of the update: a small one for all those who downloaded the initial Android 14 update before being drawn, and a bigger one for all those who have not done so and whose device always executes Android 12.
Chromecast with Google TV and Android 14: What’s new?
The update includes the security fix for January 2025; Find my remote and customizable button for the Google TV Streamer voice remote control; Various bug corrections; and system optimizations. But the most important thing is that it updates the operating system from Android 12 to Android 14.
According to Google, it means “a more snapcial and more reactive television experience”.
The previous version of the update was removed in the middle of the reports according to which external readers, certain USB devices and certain Ethernet adapters did not work properly, but to judge by reports on the Subredit R / Chromecast of Reddit, the new update does not cause similarity – although some users always meet minor.
The new Android 14 update takes place on Chromecast with Google TV users (4K) now.
