CJ emphasizes coordination between bench and bar

ISLAMABAD:

Chief Justice Yahya Afridi on Tuesday said the judiciary and bar are an integral part of the justice system, stressing the need for sustained coordination to ensure speedy and efficient delivery of justice.

The top judge made the remarks as the outgoing Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) cabinet, led by Rauf Atta, and the newly elected cabinet, led by Haroonur Rasheed, summoned him to the Supreme Court.

He congratulated the newly elected office bearers and acknowledged the cooperation and support provided by the outgoing cabinet.

He emphasized that the judiciary and the bar are an integral part of one justice system and stressed that sustained coordination is essential for speedy and efficient administration of justice.

The apex judge briefed the delegation on institutional reforms aimed at enhancing access, transparency and efficiency.

He explained that public facilitation centers have been established at the head office and all branch registries to provide a one-stop-shop service to litigants and lawyers, enabling rapid access to information and effective resolution of grievances.

He said the system would be continuously improved through feedback from stakeholders including lawyers, litigants and visitors, adding that constructive suggestions would be welcomed at every stage.

The Chief Justice reiterated that cases are disposed of strictly in accordance with the policy available on the website, while requests for early hearing based on grounds of urgency are considered on merits.

He said judicial processes are being modernized through technology to reduce procedural costs, streamline services and make it easier for members of the bar and litigants.

He reiterated that the Supreme Court remains committed to constitutional limits and fully respects the administrative and judicial independence of the high courts.
