The joy of winning the Super Bowl had barely dissipated when Cj Gardner-Johnson learned his job with the Texans de Houston. Even now, the former defensive star of Philadelphia Eagles is still shocked by the steep decision.

Gardner-Johnson recorded six interceptions in his second pass with the Eagles. He previously played Philadelphia in 2022, before returning in 2024 for a three -year contract. He became the team’s departure security and recorded three plated in the victory of the Eagles 40-22 on the Chiefs of Kansas City In the Super Bowl Lix.

Despite his surprise, Gardner-Johnson said that the last decision of his career in the NFL was to his advantage.
“I think it was a great decision for me. I think it allowed me not to become too comfortable,” he said.
“People have to understand that I was comfortable where I was. It was easy. When I say easy, it was resources I could easily access, people I could just talk to. I think that moving here, being the older guy, I have to grow up. It is a funny declaration, but to grow and teach guys, it’s more than football.

For the Eagles, the decision to pass from Gardner-Johnson seemed strictly financial.
“Each dollar you spend is a dollar less than you can spend on some of these young players you may want to keep,” said Managing Director Howie Roseman last month at the annual NFL League meeting, via NBC Philadelphia Sports. “Going out before us was important to us. And again, difficult decisions. Not asking anyone to agree with them, but that is part of our work.”
