Rawalpindi:

A violent altercation between the public transport staff and the national motorway and highway police (NHMP), at 26, the number of Chungi has surfaced, with video images of uniform officers “attacking” the members of bus crew becoming viral.

In response, the highway police accused the transport staff of having attacked an officer, damaging a tablet issued by the government and tearing its uniform.

According to sources, NHMP staff managed a strong congestion of traffic at 26 Chungi numbers when an argument broke out with each other and a passenger bus team.

The situation quickly turned into a physical confrontation, captured in video.

The images show four NHMP uniform officers by physically assaulting a member of bus staff.

An officer is seen in the process of brandishing a stick and hitting the transport worker, while another individual in civilian clothes is also seen to push the member of the bus crew.

NHMP officials said the transport staff attacked Inspector Noor Faraz, beaten him, had destroyed a tablet issued by the government and torn his uniform.

In response, additional police personnel was deployed to control the situation and a legal complaint was filed against the accused at the Tarnol police station.

Following the incident, the additional Inspector General (AIG) of the Northern Region was immediate and trained an investigation committee under the supervision of the North-1 SP Jawad Shah sector commander.

The authorities promised an in -depth investigation to ensure justice and discover all aspects of the incident.
